Weekend Recap- Bachelorette Party

What a whirlwind of a weekend with a lot of car time and girl time!!!
Friday morning, I left Southern VA an headed up to Northern VA.  A trip that normally takes me 3 hours, took me almost 5 hours! There was quite a bit of traffic!
I stopped in DC to pick up my best friend, Jamie. We had originally planned to have lunch and go shopping, but I’d gotten there so late that we went ahead and got on the road to head to Kent Island, MD on the Eastern Shore.
There, we stayed at my cousin’s in-law’s condo.  We went out and had dinner at an awesome restaurant called Bridges…
and ate some delish food…

…and we enjoyed the sunset…
… with a some drinks…

After dinner, we went out for more drinks and bachelorette dares!

One of the dares was to get 3 men of the girls’ choosing and get them to write down what they thought marriage was. The best answer we got was…

Marriage is in a glance, you see your friend, not a lover.  A person whom doesn’t judge but binds your heart without walls. It is easy when it is effortless.

Another dare was to get on a boat by the end of the night.  And boy, did we get on a boat!!!
The guy who gave us the best definition of what he thought marriage was came to Bridges with a bunch of people including his girlfriend.  They owned sonic powerboats!  They came on 2.
The 6 of us split into groups of 3 and went on a boat ride with them out on the bay, only to go to the bar next door. :)

Saturday morning, we got up nice and early and made our lil trek to Ocean City, MD. It took us about 2.5 hours to get there and we headed straight to the beach!

We actually had a ton of pictures on the beach, but my girlfriend has those pictures… 
Some of them are sooo funny. I’ll have to share them once I get them from her. 
Afterwards we went to some Ocean City landmark bars:

We did a Bachelorette Scavenger hunt at Fager’s Island, but gave up because we one of the challenges was to find a guy named: Tony, Joe, George, or Kent and get a business card from him.  We ran into a Kent, but no business card… and kept looking for more men with business cards. We found that we weren’t having as much fun looking for these people and hoping they had a business card at the beach bar, that we just gave up and had a good time dancing instead.

Sunday morning, we got up bright and early and made our trip back home.  I had to take Jamie to work and she ended up being a half hour late. Oopsie. She did call ahead and let them know we hit a bit of traffic coming back from the beach, so it was okay. Then, Hailey and I stopped off in Georgetown to get some Georgetown cupcakes. Bad Idea. The line was over an hour long!
I found out that the next time I come up, it’ll be easier to call ahead a day and put in my order and then I can just walk in and pick up.
My neighbor, Tara will just love me! She was a lil disappointed that I didn’t come back with a dozen of the sweet treats, but next time I will. :)
Of course, we had to see a couple of my fav stores on our walk back to the car:

I dropped off Hailey and proceeded home and got home around 6 (That’s 10 hours after we checked out of the hotel!). Drove to momma B’s house to have a family dinner saying good luck to lil future brother in law, Danny.  He’s off to JMU today. It’s momma’s last baby going off to college.  She’ll be back later tonight after moving him in and will be a wreck, I’m sure. 
All in all, it was a great weekend with some really fun girls! I just wish they all lived closer!

Happy Friday!!!
Guess where I’m headed this weekend??
I’ve never been there. Ever. And I lived in Northern VA for almost a decade!
We’re hitting this beach spot for my bachelorette party! It should be a ton of fun! Just me and my girls having a great time. I hear we’ll be enjoying the sun and swimming up to a bar?? :)
But first, before we get to our bachelorette party destination, we’re going to stop in Kent Island for the night. My cousin’s in-laws have a condo there and it’s beautiful! :)

I can’t wait to see what the weekend holds! Praying for some beautiful weather too! Right now it says partly cloudy, highs 82. :)

Pink and Green Thursday- Sweets

Oh my! How could I have missed it?!?
Yesterday was National Cupcake Day!
Well, there seems to be a little confusion as to the exact day.  According to American Food Holidays December 15th is the day to behold the cupcake, however October 18th is also marked as a special day for the small cakes, and yesterday August 18 was Soft Ice Cream Day.  Either way, yesterday was  a day to celebrate the sweets! 
I only found out about it as I was catching up on my local news this morning.  I do agree that everyday should be National Cupcake day! :) What do you all think?? Who’s with me? Y’all know how much I LOVE cupcakes!!!
Speaking of Sweets, today, I’m off to do some Wedding planning… 
Time to figure out my wedding cake! :)  I’m definitely thinking something coconut, maybe something chocolate and raspberry, maybe amaretto… There’s just so many choices!  What are your favorite cake flavors???

This should be fun! Off to meet with my cake lady, Vania, who also happens to be a long time family friend! She’s my cousin’s best friend and I’ve known her since I was probably in diapers! :)  It’ll be a nice reunion. I last saw her at my other cousin’s wedding last September. She did her cake:

My Etsy Shop-VySells Seashells!

Happy Friday!!! Today, I wanted to share with all of you one of my newest endeavors- My Etsy shop- VySells Seashells!
You all know how I love the beach and everything about it… well I’ve decided to make some of my beach finds into jewelry and other kinds of home decor.  I’m starting with making jewelry with the beach and shell items, because it’s what I’ve been collecting to do.  I’ll start incorporating other home decor items and paintings as I get back into it.

I have always been a crafty person and everyone has always told me that I should sell some of the things I make/create! Well, thank you to all my family and friends that have continually complimented me on my crafts. It’s because of them I’ve finally done something with my crafts.

Most of the shells are shells that I’ve found on my beach trip to the OBX. Some have been collected from the BVI, Bahamas, and Mexico on past trips as well.  Some of the shells are actually natural shells that I’ve picked and purchased.
I’m so excited. It’s only been up for a week and I’ve already sold half of what I’ve made! I’m going to have to make more items!  Aww sucks, twist my arm!  It’s so cute how Tommy has been so extremely supportive and has actually gone with me to the local arts and crafts stores. The name “VySells Seashells” actually came to me in a dream.  I’m a very vivid dreamer and one night I dreamt the name up.  How perfect! :)

It’s Tommy’s Bachelor party weekend!  The boys are staying here tonight as they’re all coming in from all over, then tomorrow they are off to the Bachelor Party and staying downtown. Hello Ladies! Happy Pink and Green Thursday!  I’m still reeling from the loss of Lisa… I think more of her and her wonderful words of advice.  Sad that I won’t get another email from her with a comment or two to brighten my day or lead me in the right way.  :(

I’ve posted up a piece of advice she left me and I must always remember to take to heart (everyone else should too): 

I’m definitely not one to take time out for myself and really should. I will. :)


Soooooo this past weekend was my bridal shower.  And what a surprise it was! I’m not usually good at being center of attention, but it was my day and had to relish in it.
The girls threw me a Derby themed shower! Complete with the pink and green! Oh how I love my girls and future mom in law!!!
All I was told was to show up in a sundress… and what else do you think I wore? Lilly Pulitzer, of course!!! :)

It was hilarious, but we had the toilet paper brides, they did such a great job that I couldn’t choose a wining team and chose to award the 3 models for their patience and ability to no break the tp. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week! I’m off shopping with Momma B for her dress for the wedding! Then it’s back here to spiffy up the house for another weekend of guests… this weekend it’s the boy’s bachelor party! Oh My!  I’ve already laid down my ground rules, and he’s agreed to comply 100%… Next step- the Best Man (also future brother in law), he’ll get my ground rules too! ;)
My ground rules: don’t do anything that I’d even think about divorcing you over if I’d ever found out, and no fighting.  Did any of you set ground rules?

She Swings from Heaven…

It’s a sad day.
Our friend, Lisa from Bumpkin on a Swing is now swinging from Heaven.
She had a very short, but courageous battle with ovarian cancer.  Within 3 weeks this aggressive cancer took over her body and took her from us on Sunday.  My good friend Trishy, Pink Preppy Lilly Lover, was there with her and Lisa’s Captain, John.
I will miss all of her wonderful comments, her wonderful words of encouragement, and her wit.  Sometimes it was just a one liner that she sent me in an email that could make my entire day, or sometimes- week. :)
It never fails that whenever I see a swing, I think of Lisa. I sent her a picture of a swing I saw in the BVI:
I can only imagine what her swing looks like from Heaven…. She will be missed, but I know she’s our angel watching from heaven.
